Mt. JULIET, Tenn. - 4/9/2011 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University men’s golf team won the Cumberland (Tenn.) University Invitational. In doing so, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ set a school record for low round for a team versus par. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot an opening round 280, eight under par for a 15 stroke lead. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ finished with a second round 303 and won the event by eight strokes over host Cumberland.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ set a new record for a team round of eight under par. The old record for under par was a 6-under scored by this team earlier in the season in the Martin Methodist Classic. The 280 was the third lowest team score for a round in school history (278 this season, 279 in 2001-02).
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Brett Barry and Ryan Chandler earned spots on the all-tournament team. Chandler led Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ with a 144, Barry posted a 145, Matt Kelley shot 146, Micah Gentle shot 148 and Steven Coffelt shot 151.
