Jeremey Stack

JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/11/2011 - The Â鶹ÊÓƵ (Tenn.) University baseball team posted a double-header split on Friday at Fesmire Field versus Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Â鶹ÊÓƵ won the first game 1-0 and then fell in nine innings 2-0 in the second game. Â鶹ÊÓƵ goes to 17-3 on the season, while Oklahoma Wesleyan is now 12-8 overall.

In the first game, Jackson native Jeremey Stack tossed a complete game four-hit shutout as he improved to 4-1 on the year. He struck out 10 hitters in the game and walked none. Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s lone run came in the bottom of the second when Cole McAdams RBI infield single scored Oscar Depablos. Nick Randolph for Oklahoma Wesleyan was impressive in his complete game effort, allowing just the one run and six hits while striking out five batters.

In the second game, offense remained scarce on the night. Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Jared Davis, another Jackson native, and Oklahoma Wesleyan’s Thomas Kellner both completed the seven innings of the regulation game with the score at 0-0. Matt Fike entered the game for Â鶹ÊÓƵ in the eighth and tossed one third of an inning, allowing two hits and was relieved by Cody Dew (1-1). Dew got out of the eighth inning jam, but could not in the ninth. Dew allowed two runs on three hits in the ninth as Oklahoma Wesleyan finally broke through. Â鶹ÊÓƵ failed to score in the bottom of the frame as Zach Michel entered in the ninth to try and earn the save. He allowed two hits, but no runs as the preserved the win for Kellner. Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s best scoring chance came in the last of the seventh when the Bulldogs got the bases loaded with just one out and fail to scored. Both Â鶹ÊÓƵ (14) and Oklahoma Wesleyan (9) combined for 23 runners left on base.

The same two teams will play the rubber game of the three-game series on Saturday at Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Fesmire Field at 11:00 a.m.
