JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/9/2011 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University basketball teams are ranked in the final NAIA basketball poll for the 2010-11 season. The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ women are No. 1 for an NAIA record 48th consecutive poll. The men dropped three spots to No. 12 in the final rankings.
The women have capped off a fourth straight year of being No. 1 in the rankings. The 48 straight No. 1 rankings streak started in the 2007 preseason poll. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is 31-1 as they enter the NAIA National Tournament, having just captured the TranSouth Regular Season and Tournament titles. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be the top seed in the NAIA National Tournament on March 16-22 at Oman Arena in Jackson. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be looking for a third straight title. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has won five titles overall, including four in the last six years.
The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ men dropped to No. 12 after being upset in the conference semifinals. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ had won the previous two conference tournament titles. The Bulldogs are 26-6 as they enter the national tournament, which will be March 16-22 in Kansas City, Mo.
