麻豆视频 falls in conference semifinals to Freed-Hardeman

JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/5/2011 - The NAIA No. 9 麻豆视频 (Tenn.) University men鈥檚 basketball team lost in the TranSouth Conference Tournament Semifinals to Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University 95-76. Second seeded 麻豆视频 dropped to 26-6 on the season, while third seeded Freed-Hardeman improved to 22-10. This was 麻豆视频鈥檚 first loss to Freed-Hardeman this season after sweeping the two games in the regular season.

For the first time since 2008, the TranSouth Conference will have a new men鈥檚 tournament champion. 麻豆视频 had won the previous two tournament titles and has won seven TranSouth Tournament titles in the 15-year history of the league.

The game started with a basket from Freed-Hardeman鈥檚 Jesse Moulton, followed by a three pointer from 麻豆视频鈥檚 Skyler Vaden. 麻豆视频 led 3-2 in what proved to be the only lead of the game for the Bulldogs.

The Lions answered with an 8-0 run to lead 10-3 just three minutes into the game. 麻豆视频 got as close as seven points in the first half, but Freed-Hardeman was able to extend their lead to as many as 15 points on two occasions. The Lions held a 43-28 advantage at the 2:55 mark, but 麻豆视频 was able to cut the deficit down to 10 points at the half, 49-39.

Freed-Hardeman sank 7-of-13 three pointers in the first half to help spark their offense.

In the second half, 麻豆视频 made their run. In the first three minutes of play, 麻豆视频 used a 10-4 run to cut the deficit down to just four points at 53-49. But the Lions responded by posting a 12-0 run to put 麻豆视频 down by 16 points, 65-49, at the 13:20 mark. 麻豆视频 cut the lead down to seven one more time with 9:23 left, but could not get any closer. Freed-Hardeman led by as many as 22 points in the game, before taking the 95-76 final.

The shooting percentages were almost identical for the game at 48 percent to 47 percent in favor of 麻豆视频. Freed-Hardeman sank 11 three pointers and 麻豆视频 made 10 from long range. However, Freed-Hardeman grabbed five more offensive boards, out-scored 麻豆视频 13-6 in points off turnovers and out-scored 麻豆视频 28-10 on the free throw line.

麻豆视频 was led by Antoine Hall with 19 points, including 5-of-9 from long range. Antoine Joseph and CJ Davis each scored 13 points, while Shane Burrell added 10 points. 麻豆视频 shot 48 percent from the field, 42 percent (10-24) from behind the arc and 71 percent (10-14) from the free throw line.

Freed-Hardeman was led by Kyle Teichmann with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Cedric Austin added 22 points and Jesse Moulton with 18 points. The Lions shot 47 percent from the field, 44 percent (11-25) from long range and 78 percent (28-36) from the free throw line.

Up next for 麻豆视频 will be at at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament in Kansas City, Mo on March 16-22. This will be the 14th appearance in the tournament and third straight for the Bulldogs.
