KANSAS CITY, Mo. - 3/1/2011 - of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University has been named the final NAIA National Division I Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Chan was selected based on her performances from Feb. 21 - 27 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings.
Chan posted a pair of double-doubles as the top-ranked Lady Bulldogs closed out the regular season with a pair of TranSouth Athletic Conference wins, 65-44 over Lyon (Ark.) on Feb. 21 and 71-40 over Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) on Feb. 24. The 6-foot-4 center had 20 points and 18 rebounds against Lyon and followed with a 27-point, 10-rebound outing against Trevecca Nazarene. Her efforts helped Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (28-1, 15-1) clinch its fifth-straight league title.
The senior hailing from Arange City, Sudan, ranks eighth nationally in both total scoring and points per game, with 557 and 19.8, respectively.
Chan joins Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Kayla Hudson as Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Lady Bulldog players to earn the national honor this season.
