No. 1 麻豆视频 wins fifth straight conference title with 71-40

JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/24/2011 - The 麻豆视频 (Tenn.) University women鈥檚 basketball team earned their fifth straight TranSouth regular season title with a 71-40 win over Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University. 麻豆视频 finished the regular season with a 28-1 overall record and a league best 15-1 record. Trevecca Nazarene dropped to 12-14 overall and 9-6 in league play.

Trevecca Nazarene scored first and led 9-6 following a three pointer at the 15:34 mark. 麻豆视频 rallied with a 16-0 run to take a 22-9 lead at the 7:20 mark. That 13-point advantage was the largest of the first half as the Trojans pulled to within seven points, 31-24 at the half.

In the second half, 麻豆视频 exploded out of the locker room. Over the first 10 minutes of play, 麻豆视频 outscored Trevecca Nazarene 29-6 to lead 60-30. 麻豆视频 led by as many as 33 points in the game, before taking the 71-40 final.

麻豆视频 was led by Sarah Chan with 27 points and 10 rebounds for her 13th double-double of the season. Lavanda Ross added 13 points. No other Lady Bulldog tallied double figures, but nine of the 10 players scored in the game. 麻豆视频 shot 42 percent from the field, 22 percent ( 6-27) from long range and 62 percent ( 13-21) from the free throw line.

Trevecca Nazarene was led by London Elie with nine points and Britt Bell with eight points. The Trojans shot 24 percent from the field, 21 percent (3-14) from behind the arc and 53 percent (9-17) from the free throw line.

Up next for 麻豆视频 will be the quarterfinal round of the TranSouth Conference Tournament on Wednesday, March 2. The game will be played at 麻豆视频, with the opponent to be determined.
