JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/21/2011 - The Â鶹ÊÓƵ (Tenn.) University basketball teams continue their presence in the NAIA National Rankings. The Â鶹ÊÓƵ men moved up three spots to No. 11, while the Lady Bulldogs remained No. 1 for the 46th straight NAIA ranking.
The No. 11 ranking for the men is the highest ranking for Â鶹ÊÓƵ since they were ranked No. 10 in the preseason poll. Â鶹ÊÓƵ has won four straight games and has clinched at least a runner-up finish in the conference regular season standings. Â鶹ÊÓƵ will need to win their final two games and hope Martin Methodist (Tenn.) loses twice in order for the Bulldogs to win a third straight regular season title.
The Â鶹ÊÓƵ women have won three straight since suffering their first loss of the year nine days ago. Â鶹ÊÓƵ is 26-1 overall and a TranSouth best 13-1. Â鶹ÊÓƵ needs just one win in the final two games to seal a No. 1 seed and at least a share of the regular season crown. Â鶹ÊÓƵ has won four straight regular season titles.
The conference tournament begins next week for both teams. The women will play March 2, 4 and 7 (Wednesday, Friday and Monday). The men will play March 3, 5 and 8 (Thursday, Saturday and Tuesday).
