JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/8/2011 - , a senior member of the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University women’s basketball team has been selected to the Capital One Academic All-District team by the members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). Hudson was named to the second team in District IV of the college division.
Hudson, a 5-foot-8 guard from Gleason, Tenn. earned this honor for her work in the classroom as a Political Science major, as well as, her contributions on the court. This award is separate from the TranSouth Scholar Athlete and Dakstats NAIA Scholar Athlete awards.
During her career, Hudson has started every game for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. The Lady Bulldogs are 131-4 during Hudson’s career. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has also been ranked No. 1 in the NAIA in every game that Hudson has played. The 44 straight No. 1 rankings for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ dates back to the 2007 preseason poll, Hudson’s freshman year.
Hudson recently passed the 1,500-point mark for her career. She currently sits at 1,534 career points . As a junior, Hudson broke Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s all-time assists record. She continues to add to that mark with 734 assists for her career. Hudson has now taken on more of a scoring role. Hudson leads Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ with 74 made three pointers and is shooting 45 percent from behind the arc. She remains the team’s assists leader with 4.7 per game.
Hudson ranks No. 4 in the NAIA in three pointer made (74), No. 2 in assist/turnover ratio (2.5), No. 5 in three pointers made per game (3.2) and No. 10 in 3-point percentage (.446).
Hudson has been named to the all-conference team and NAIA All-American team in each of her previous three seasons. She has helped Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ to a 21-0 record this year. Hudson has been a key part in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s back-to-back national titles in 2009 and 2010.
