KANSAS CITY, Mo. - 1/25/2011 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University basketball teams are ranked in the top-25 of the latest NAIA rankings. The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ women are No. 1 for the 42nd straight poll, while the men come in at No. 17.
Despite going 2-0 on the week, winning their fifth straight and winning 14 of their last 15 games, the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ men dropped from No. 16 to No. 17 in the most recent poll. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s men are in a three-way tie for first place in the TranSouth with No. 8 Martin Methodist (Tenn.) and Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.), who is receiving votes. All three teams sit with one loss in league play.
The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ women have been No. 1 for an NAIA record 42 straight polls, dating back to the preseason poll of 2007. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is a perfect 20-0 on the season and 7-0 in the TranSouth. No. 4 Freed-Hardeman and No. 8 Bethel (Tenn.) are just one game back in the standings with one loss. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has won 25 straight games overall dating back to last season. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has also won 58 straight TranSouth regular season games and 42 straight regular season games overall. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is just one win shy of tying the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ record of 43 straight regular season wins.
Up next for the two teams will be a road game at Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) on Thursday, January 27 to close out the first half of the conference season. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has won 25 straight road games.
