JACKSON, Tenn. - 12/6/2010 - Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University senior , and junior were named Daktronics-NAIA Women’s Soccer Scholar Athletes. This honor is for student athletes that are at least a junior with at least a 3.5 GPA and have been at their current institution for at least one full academic year.
Lovelady, a 5-foot-7 defender from Franklin, Tenn., has been with Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ all four seasons of her soccer career. This is her second NAIA Scholar Athlete honor and she has three TranSouth Scholar Athlete awards to her credit. Played in 12 games with nine starts this season. She recorded one goal and 16 shots.
Wassell, a 5-foot-4 junior from Antipolo, Philippines, adds this honor to her TranSouth Scholar Athlete honor from earlier this season. Wassell played in 17 games with five starts on the season. She scored three goals on 16 shots during the year.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s women’s soccer team finished 9-7-2 overall and 2-3-1 in the TranSouth, good for a fourth place seed in the conference tournament. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ lost in the semifinals of the conference tournament.
