Hot shooting helps No. 10 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ even score with No. 21 Life


Antoine Hall scores 30 points

MARIETA, Ga. - 12/3/2010 - The No. 10 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University men’s basketball team posted a 107-94 win over No. 21 Life (Ga.) University. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ won their fourth straight to move to 7-3 on the season, while Life dropped to 5-6 on the season. Life won the earlier meeting at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ 63-61 on a pair of free throw with point-four seconds left in the game.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 62 percent from the field and 50 percent from behind the arc in the win.

Life scored first on a three pointer from PJ Meyers, answered immediately by a three pointer from Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Antoine Hall. It was the first of six three pointers on the night for Hall, on his way to a career high 30 points. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ extended their lead to 11-3 thanks to the 11-0 run.

Life rallied to cut the deficit to 15-12, and then later in the half, pulled as close at 29-28 with 5:39. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ stretched their lead back out to 11 points, 50-39 at the half.

In the second half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ kept the lead in double figures for the majority of the half. With 11:05 left to play, Life had pulled to within eight points, 74-66. But another three pointer from Hall pushed Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ back to a double-digit lead. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led by as many as 17 points late before taking the 107-94 final.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by Hall’s 30 points, including 6-of-13 from behind the arc. Skyler Vaden added 22 points, while Stan McNeil scored 15 points and CJ Davis added 13 points. Shane Burrell recorded his third double-double in the past four games with 12 points and 14 rebounds. It is the fourth straight game for Burrell to have double figures in rebounds. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 63 percent from the field, 50 percent (11-22) from behind the arc and 69 percent (22-32) from the free throw line.

Life was led by PJ Meyers with 26 points. Tony Reese added 19 points, Mico Sjekloca scored 18 points and James Hooper added 12 points. Life shot 47 percent from the field, 40 percent (10-25) from three-point range and 75 percent (12-16) from the charity stripe.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a road game in Atlanta versus Carver Bible College on Saturday, Dec. 4.
