No. 1 麻豆视频 women鈥檚 basketball shoots past No. 5 Vanguard 95-61

JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/20/2010 - The 麻豆视频 (Tenn.) University women鈥檚 basketball team rolled in a top-5 match-up with No. 5 Vanguard (Calif.) University 95-61 in the final game of the . 麻豆视频 improved to 6-0 on the season, while Vanguard dropped to 2-2 overall.

Following a night when 麻豆视频 scored just 61 points in a win over No. 2 Azusa Pacific (Calif.), 麻豆视频 exploded for 58 first half points to pull away from Vanguard. The Lady Bulldogs made 8-of-11 (73%) three pointers in the first 20 minutes and shot 67 percent from the field. Lavanda Ross scored 16 of her game-high 18 points in the first half. Kayla Bryant, who finished with 15 points on five 3-pointers, made 3-of-4 from long range in the first half.

麻豆视频 scored the first four points and led by a slim 10-9 at the 16:16 mark. 麻豆视频, who led for the entire game, held the lead 20-17 with 12:18 left in the half. From that point, 麻豆视频 began to pull away. 麻豆视频 closed out the half by out-scoring Vanguard 38-15 to lead 58-32 at the half. Included in that 38-point span for 麻豆视频 were runs of 11-0 and 10-0. 麻豆视频 led by as many as 27 points (56-29) in the first half.

In the second half, 麻豆视频 maintained at least a 22-point lead before extending the lead to the largest of the night at 36 points, 95-59.

Ross led six 麻豆视频 players in double figures with 18 points including 2-of-3 from behind the arc. Bryant scored 15 points on five three pointers, while Zeinab Chan added 14 points. Hope Adams scored 12 points, Terrah Garner added 11 points, including 3-of-3 from long range, while Kayla Hudson added 10 points with two three pointers. 麻豆视频 shot 55 percent from the field, 56 percent (14-25) from behind the arc and 70 percent (7-10) from the free throw line.

Vanguard was led by Chelsea Alfafara with 15 points and Molly Pfohl with 13 points. The Lions shot 37 percent from the field, 39 percent (9-23) from three-point range and 50 percent (6-12) from the charity stripe.
