No. 10 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ men's basketball wins 69-63 at No. 8 McKendree

LEBANON, Ill. - 11/13/2010 - The No. 10 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University men's basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 69-63 win at No. 8 McKendree (Ill.) University. McKendree dropped to 2-3 on the season.

For the second straight night, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by red-shirt sophomore CJ Davis as he poured in 18 points, including 3-of-6 from behind the arc. The Bulldogs continued their good shooting from the perimeter with 53 percent (8-15) from long range in the game.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led 46-36 at the half thanks to 53 percent shooting from the field and 56 percent (5-9) from three point range in the first 20 minutes.

However, in the second half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was out-scored 27-23 in a defensive struggle. Despite Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ making 3-of-6 three pointers in the second half, the Bulldogs only made five of their other 18 shots. McKendree was also struggling to make shots in the second half, just 29 percent from the field and 18 percent (2-11) from three-point range.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by Davis' 18 points following his game-high 19 points on the previous night. Stan McNeil added 14 points and Skyler Vaden scored 10 points. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ made 46 percent of their shots from the field and 68 percent (13-19) of their free throws.

McKendree was led by Andy Wolf with 14 points. John Steppe added 12 points, while Brad Copelin and Sean Rakers scored 11 and 10 points respectively. McKendree shot just 37 percent from the field, 16 percent (3-19) from three-point range and 50 percent (10-20) from the free throw line.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be the second of eight straight games versus teams ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA preseason rankings. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will face No. 21 Life (Ga.) on Tuesday night at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ at 7:00 p.m.
