麻豆视频 volleyball advances in day one of conference tourney

HENDERSON, Tenn. - 11/8/2010 - The 麻豆视频 (Tenn.) University women鈥檚 volleyball team posted a 3-0 (25-17, 25-11, 25-23) win over Mid-Continent (Ky.) University in first round action. Top-seeded 麻豆视频 improved to 23-7 on the season, while No. seed Mid-Continent dropped to 6-27 overall.

麻豆视频 and Mid-Continent played a tight first half of set one, before 麻豆视频 pulled away for the 25-17 win. In set number two, 麻豆视频 controlled played to cruise to the 25-11 win. In set three, it seemed that 麻豆视频 would quickly put Mid-Continent away as the Lady Bulldogs led 16-6. Mid-Continent then outscored 麻豆视频 17-8 to cut the 麻豆视频 lead down to 24-23. However, an attack by Mid-Continent went into the net to give 麻豆视频 the win.

麻豆视频 swept the season series with Mid-Continent, winning both regular season meetings 3-0.

麻豆视频 was led by Marcela Madeira with 10 kills. Caroline Robbins added nine kills. Emmie Moroski recorded 3 assists, Kelsey Duling led with 16 digs, while Madeira led with three blocks.

Mid-Continent was led by Kristin Selph and Katie Perry with 15 and 13 kills respectively. Lindsey Davis had 25 assists, and Selph led with 16 digs.

Up next for 麻豆视频 will be a second round match versus No. 4 seeded Cumberland (Tenn.) University at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday in Henderson, Tenn.
