JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/6/2010 - The No. 1 ranked 麻豆视频 (Tenn.) University women鈥檚 basketball team posted an 83-57 victory over St. Francis (Ill.) University on Homecoming. 麻豆视频 improved to 2-0 on the season, while St. Francis dropped to 1-2 overall.
麻豆视频 scored the game鈥檚 first six points as they jumped out to an 11-1 lead in the first two-plus minutes of play. A pair of buckets from Zeinab Chan and Lavanda Ross, capped off with a three pointer from Kayla Hudson sparked the 麻豆视频 offense. 麻豆视频 led by as many as 35 points in the first half, 50-15 at the 2:30 mark following a three pointer from freshman Terrah Garner. 麻豆视频 held a 53-22 halftime lead.
In the second half, 麻豆视频 starters did not see much action. 麻豆视频 maintained the large lead, pushing it to as many as 41 points (81-40) with 7:20 left in the game. Over the final seven minute of play, St. Francis outscored 麻豆视频 17-2 as the Saints cut the final score down to 83-57
麻豆视频 was led by Chan with a game-high 18 points. Kayla Hudson and Lavanda Ross scored 14 points each. All 11 players for 麻豆视频 scored in the contest. Ross led with seven rebounds and Hudson led with six assists. 麻豆视频 shot 50 percent from the field, 28 percent (5-22) from behind the arc and 67 percent (6-9) from the free throw line.
St. Francis was led by Brandi Pudik with 15 points and Jen Andes with 14 points. Molly Bardson led with six rebounds. St. Francis shot 34 percent from the field, 20 percent (4-20) from behind the arc and 83 percent (25-30) from the free throw line.
Up next for 麻豆视频 will be two exhibition games at SEC and NCAA powers Tennessee and Vanderbilt on Sunday and Tuesday respectively. 麻豆视频鈥檚 next home game will be Saturday, Nov. 13 versus No. 12 Cumberland (Ky.) at 2:00 p.m.
