JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/4/2010 - The Â鶹ÊÓƵ (Tenn.) University men’s golf team captured the RedHawk Classic hosted by Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 1-2. In the victory, Â鶹ÊÓƵ set a records for low round and low round versus par for a Â鶹ÊÓƵ team.

The records are dating back to the 1999-00 season.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ shot a first round score of 278 on the first day of the classic. This score was one shot better that last season’s 279 in the same event. Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s 278 was also 6-under-par, which eclipsed the old record of 3-under-par.

The Bulldogs also fell just short of several other records during the event. The team shot a two-round total of 571, which was one shot above the 36-hole record of 570.

Senior Micah Gentle and sophomore Brett Barry fired first round 68’s in the event. The 68 was three shots off the record of 65 set by Anthony McElroy in 2002-03.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ finished the fall with three tournament titles in the six events played. The Bulldogs will resume play in February as they look for a second straight conference title and a second straight trip to the NAIA National Tournament.
