Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ men’s soccer tops Trevecca 3-1, prepares for tourney

JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/30/2010 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University men’s soccer team posted a 3-1 win at Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improves to 13-4 on the season and 4-3 in the TranSouth. Trevecca Nazarene dropped to 5-10-1 overall and 1-6 in league play.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ secures a spot in the TranSouth Conference Tournament with the seeding and location and opponent of first match still to be determined.

The first half was most uneventful as Trevecca Nazarene managed the lone shot of the first half. In the second half, the home Trojans continued to lead in shots, 6-4 over Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. However, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was able to find the net on three of their four shots.

Guilherme Reis recorded the hat-trick for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ to seal the win and tournament spot. His first goal came in the 56th minute of play. He followed with his second goal in the 62nd minute and his third goal in the 84th minute. Trevecca’s Zach Trobaugh put his team on the board in the 85th minute. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Kemal Gogic and Trevecca’s Jonathan Baskin each recorded an assist in the contest.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was outshot 7-4 in the match with both teams recording three shots on goal. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Rainer Hauss recorded two saves, allowing just one goal in his 90 minutes of work. Trevecca goalie Hayden Coffman allowed three goals with no saves in his 90 minutes in net.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be the first round of the TranSouth Conference Tournament on Friday, November 5.
