JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/23/2010 - The 麻豆视频 (Tenn.) University volleyball team posted a 3-2 (22-25, 24-26, 25-22, 25-23, 15-12) win over conference rival Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University. 麻豆视频 improved to 18-7 on the season and 9-1 in the TranSouth. Freed-Hardeman dropped to 9-8 overall and 8-4 in league play.
With the win, 麻豆视频 avenged their only conference loss to this point in the season. Freed-Hardeman took the earlier meeting at 麻豆视频 3-1.
More importantly, 麻豆视频 keeps their two-game lead over Cumberland (Tenn.) who is 7-3 in league play and now has a three game lead in the loss column over Freed-Hardeman and Martin Methodist (Tenn.). 麻豆视频 has four conference games remaining.
Freed-Hardeman jumped out early with two close wins 25-22 and 26-22 to take a commanding 2-0 lead. That marked five straight sets that Freed-Hardeman had taken from 麻豆视频 dating back to the first meeting of the year. 麻豆视频 won the first set in the previous match, before dropping three straight sets in the loss.
However, 麻豆视频 rallied with 25-22 and 25-23 wins to tie the match and send it to the fifth set. 麻豆视频 won 15-12 to take the conference victory.
麻豆视频 was led by Anna Sims with 20 kills. Caroline Robbins and Marcela Madeira each added 15 kills and Heather Lieberman recorded 10 kills. Emmie Moroski had 55 assists, Kelsey Duling led with 32 digs and Shelby Swink led with eight blocks.
Up next for 麻豆视频 will be another conference match on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.). 麻豆视频鈥檚 senior night and final home match will be Thursday, Oct. 28 versus Mid-Continent (Ky.) at 7:00 p.m.
