JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/19/2010 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University men’s soccer team posted a 1-0 win over Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved to 12-2 on the season and 3-2 in the TranSouth. Martin Methodist dropped to 6-4-2 overall and 3-4 in league play.
In the first half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ scored on a goal from Diego Santos in the 33rd minute to put the Bulldogs up 1-0. For Santos, it was his team-best 10th goal of the season. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ controlled the first half, out-shooting Martin Methodist 10-2, including 5-0 in shots on goal. The score was 1-0 at the half.
Martin Methodist picked up the pace in the second half as they produce seven shots, including two on goal over the first 30 minutes of play. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ managed just two shots during that same stretch. However, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s defense and the reigning TranSouth defensive player of the week, Rainer Hauss preserved the 1-0 lead.
Hauss finished with two saves, while James Colman had five saves and just one goal allowed in his 90 minutes in goal for the RedHawks. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ out-shot Martin Methodist 14-9 in the match, including 6-2 in shots on goal.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be their senior night on Friday, October 22 at 7:00 p.m. versus Christian Brothers (Tenn.).
