Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ men’s soccer takes second straight loss

JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/5/2010 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University men’s soccer team lost their second straight match with a 2-0 loss to Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University. After starting the season 8-0, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ dropped to 8-2 on the season and 1-2 in the TranSouth. Freed-Hardeman improved to 8-3 overall and 1-2 in league play.

The teams played to a scoreless first half as neither team could connect on scoring opportunities. Then, as the second half seemed to be unfolding with the same results, Freed-Hardeman broke the scoreless tie with a goal from Kenniel Hyde. The goal came in the 71st minute of play, assisted by Ryan Engineer and Guilherme Dorigo.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ tried to even the match but allowed the Lions to get the ball defense for a insurance goal with just eight minutes left to play. Simbarashe Zvaita scored on an assist from Nolan Beede to help secure the win.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ out-shot Freed-Hardeman 14-11 in the game, with the Lions edging Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ 7-6 in shots on goal. James Landham recorded five saves for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, while Aleandre Girodo had six saves for the Lions in the shutout.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a 6:00 p.m. home soccer match versus Cumberland (Tenn.) on Saturday, Oct. 9.
