MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - 10/2/2010 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University volleyball team won three-of-four matches in the Mount Vernon Nazarene Invitational over the weekend. The three wins helped Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ take runner-up in the tournament. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ defeated Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Ky.) 3-0 and Marion (Ind.) 3-1 on Friday. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ then topped Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) 3-0 before losing to host and NAIA #31 Mount Vernon Nazarene (Oho) 3-2 on Saturday.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Marcela Madeira, Anna Sims and Emmie Moroski were named to the all-tournament team.
Madeira led with 11 kills in the match against Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Ky.). Moroski has 21 assists and Sims led with seven blocks. In the win over Marion, Madeira again led with 13 kills, while Sims and Caroline Robbins added 11 kills each. Moroski tallied 37 assists and Sims led with seven blocks. Against Roberts Wesleyan, Madeira and Sims led with 10 kills, Moroski added 30 assists and Sims led with four blocks. In the loss to Mount Vernon, Madeira led with 20 kills, while Sims and Heather Lieberman added 13 and 12 kills respectively. Moroski tallied 48 assists and Shelby Swink led with six blocks.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ extended their winning streak to 10 matches during the tournament before having that streak snapped by Mount Vernon Nazarene. The Lady Bulldogs are 11-4 on the season.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a road conference match on Tuesday, October 5 at Bethel (Tenn.), followed by a home conference match on Thursday, Oct. 7 versus Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) at 7:00 p.m.
