BATESVILLE, Ark. - 9/18/2010 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University men’s soccer improved to 6-0 on the season with a 3-1 victory at Lyon (Ark.) College. In the win, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ allowed their first goal of the season, stopping their record of five straight shutouts at five matches. This win also puts Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ at 1-0 to start TranSouth play. Lyon dropped to 4-3-1 overall and 0-1 in league play.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ jumped out quickly with back-to-back goals from Diego Santos in the 16th and 26th minutes of play. Santos now has a team-high six goals on the season.
Then, with just 15 seconds left in first half, Lyon’s Robert Hall broke through and scored the first goal on Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ this season. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led 2-1 at the break.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ added an insurance goal in the 77th minute of play when William Hanna found the back of the net.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ out-shot Lyon 17-7 overall and 10-4 on goal. The defending conference defensive player of the week James Landham record three saves, while his counterpart Thomas Guarino had seven saves. Both played all 90 minutes in goal.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be the first of five straight home matches. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ welcomes Central Baptist (Ark.) to Jackson on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 6:00 p.m.
