JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/17/2010 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University men’s golf team posted a victory in their first tournament of the season, taking the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Fall Invitational championship on Friday. The event, played at the Jackson National Golf Club, was the first since the 2010 NAIA National Tournament last May.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Ryan Chandler also took the individual title after topping Cumberland (Tenn.) player Paul Vaughn in a playoff hole. Both players shot a round of 73 on the par 72 course.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s first team won the event with a 301. Cumberland’s first team finished second with a 313, followed by Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s B-team in third (319), Cumberland’s B-team in fourth (324), Blue Mountain (Miss.) in fifth (325), Bethel (Tenn.) in sixth (331), Martin Methodist (Tenn.) B-team in seventh (335) and Martin Methodist’s first team in eighth (341). This also marked the first ever golf event for Blue Mountain, who is in their inaugural season.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s first team included Chandler in first (73), Micah Gentle in third (74), Brett Barry tied for fourth (75), Steven Coffelt in thirteenth (79) and Josh Bratcher tied for twenty-eighth (85).
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s B-team included Tyler Lay tied for sixth (77), Jake Carroll tied for tenth (78), Matt Kelley tied for 16 (81), Ben Waits in twenty-third (83) and Jesper Swedenborg tied for twenty-fourth (84).
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s individual players included Ryan Mantooth tied for nineteenth (82), Wes Dyer tied for twenty-fourth (84) and Chris Hawks tied for twenty-eighth (85).
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a match play event versus Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) in Nashville in the Greystone Cup on Monday, Sept. 20.
