No. 18 麻豆视频 tops No. 2 Cumberland 6-1 to force winner-take-all title game

PADUCAH, Ky. - 5/13/2010 - In a battle of NAIA Top 20 teams, No. 18 麻豆视频 (Tenn.) University defeated No. 2 Cumberland (Tenn.) University 6-1 in the first game of the championship round in the 2010 McDonald's TranSouth Baseball Tournament. Second seed 麻豆视频 needs one more win over top seed Cumberland to repeat as tournament champions.

Cumberland gave 麻豆视频 their only loss in the tournament back in the winner's bracket final 14-5.

麻豆视频 junior Kevin Kirksey (2-2) tossed a complete game in the victory for 麻豆视频, holding one the nation's top offensive teams to just one run on six hits. Kirksey, the everyday first baseman for 麻豆视频, also struck out six hitters in the game.

Corey Rudolph led 麻豆视频 with a 4-for-4 day, while David Maristany led with two RBI. 麻豆视频 got solo home runs from Grant Luke and Beau Baker.

Greg Appleton led Cumbelrand with two hits, while Kris Miller accounted for the only run with a solo shot in the fourth inning.

The same two teams will play a winner take all game at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday afternoon for the conference title.
