麻豆视频 softball tops Lyon on first day of tourney

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - 4/28/2010 - The 麻豆视频 (Tenn. ) University Lady Bulldog softball team posted a first round victory in the TranSouth Conference Tournament with an 8-2 decision over Lyon (Ark.) College. Second seeded 麻豆视频 (33-14) will play third seed Martin Methodist (Tenn.) on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Lyon (15-26) dropped to the losers bracket.

麻豆视频 took the early lead with an RBI double from Katie Davis to score Sam Giesler in the bottom of the first inning. In the third, 麻豆视频 scored three more runs to with the help of two sacrifice flies and a RBI single from Ali Thomas. The Lady Bulldogs broke the game open in the fourth when Lindsey Landreneau hit a three-run home run. After Lyon cut the lead down to 7-2 with a pair of runs in the fifth, 麻豆视频 tacked on one more run in the bottom of the frame. Keaton Kirk鈥檚 RBI single scored Stephanie Saunders.

Brooke Thomas (20-8) tossed the complete game, allowing two runs on eight hits while striking out seven batters. Landreneau and Kirk led 麻豆视频 with two hits each. Landreneau鈥檚 three RBI paced the Lady Bulldogs, while Saunders added two RBI in the game.
