MEMPHIS, Tenn. - 4/14/2010 - The No. 12 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University baseball team posted an 8-0 victory at Christian Brothers (Tenn.) University on Wednesday afternoon. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved to 29-9 on the season, while Christian Brothers dropped to 5-35.
Newbern, Tenn. native and Bulldog senior Brad Davis (1-2) tossed 8.2 innings of shutout baseball, allowing just five hits and recording a career-high 12 strikeouts. The 12 strikeouts was also a season high for any Bulldog pitcher. David Leisey, a freshman from Lititz, Pa., recorded the final out of the game in his collegiate debut.
Cory Rudolph took care of the offense as he posted a game-high four hits in his five at-bats. Beau Baker and Grant Luke added three hits each, while Luke led the team with two RBI.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ scored three runs in the third inning to take the lead. Two more in the six, followed by one run in the eighth and two more in the ninth helped the Bulldogs pull away for the non-conference victory.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a home conference series on Friday and Saturday versus Mid-Continent (Ky.). Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will play at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, followed by double-header at noon on Saturday at Fesmire Field.
