JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/3/2010 - The No. 19 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University baseball team set a school record with six home runs in their 23-16 win over Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College on Saturday. The win helped Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ take two-of-three games from the RedHawks in the weekend conference series.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ also hit six home runs in a game versus Tennessee-Martin in 1996 and Rust (Miss.) in 1988.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ spread their scoring out over the game as they scored in eight of the nine innings, but no inning more that five runs. David Maristany hit two home runs in the game, just one shy of the school record. Also homering were Danny Grimm, Josh Jones, Grant Luke and Beau Baker.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's 49 at bats was just one shy of the record and their 33 hits and 42 total bases were both good for third place all-time at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ.
Every offensive player for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ had at least one hit. Luke led the way with four hits, while he and Maristany led Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ with five RBI each.
Martin Methodist scored all 16 of their runs in just three innings, including eight in the eighth inning.
Jared Davis (6-0) earn the win in relief as the starter Jeremy Stack left the game early with a minor injury.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ split the two games on Friday including a 12-1 win and a 6-5 loss. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ hit nine home runs over the weekend.
