JACKSON, Miss. - 3/31/2010 - The No. 19 ranked Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University Bulldogs lost 8-2 on Wednesday at No. 16 Belhaven (Miss.) University. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ dropped to 22-6 on the season while Belhaven improved to 27-10. Belhaven avenged their earlier loss to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, 4-3, back on March 16.
Belhaven scored first with four run in the bottom of the third inning. Senior Brad Davis (0-2) took the loss with four runs allowed in just 2.1 innings pitched. Freshman Colin Hatch entered in relief and pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing two runs in the fourth without recording an out. Benjie Fesmire finished the game for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, allowing just two runs, one earned on three hits in five innings.
Brant Hinton (7-0) earned the win with seven shutout innings of work, allowing five hits and recorded three strike outs.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was held scoreless until they put two runs up in the eighth inning to cut the deficit down to 8-2. The Bulldogs were led by Corey Rudolph with three of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s seven total hits. His two-run homer accounted for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s run total.
Belhaven got a home run from Timmy Foster. Foster and Craig Dean each led the Blazers with three hits apiece.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a conference series at Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College on Friday and Saturday.
