Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Lady Bulldogs reach sixth straight semifinal with 83-55 win

JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/20/2010 - Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University shot better than 50 percent on its way to its sixth straight semifinal appearance and 11th overall. The Lady Bulldogs defeated Oklahoma Christian University, 83-55, in the quarterfinals of the 2010 NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball National Championship in Jackson, Tenn. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was 30-of-57 (0.526) from the field on the game.

Both squads matched each other bucket for bucket over the first five minutes of the game. Neither team took a lead larger than two points until the 13:40 mark when Kaitlin Dudley knocked down a three-point basket to ignite the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ offense.

The Lady Bulldogs outscored the Eagles 20-7 over the next nine minutes to take a 36-18 lead. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ ended the half going on a 12-4 run and led 48-24 at halftime. The Lady Bulldogs were 7-of-11 (0.636) from beyond the arc in the first half and held Oklahoma Christian to 9-of-27 (0.333) shooting from the field.

Kayla Hudson was 3-of-4 from behind the arc in the first half, while Jessica Graves was 2-of-2.

Oklahoma Christian matched Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ basket for basket in the second half, but the closest they came was cutting the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ lead to 21 points at the 12:19 mark in the second half. The Lady Bulldogs bounced back with a 10-3 run to push their lead to 28, their largest lead of the game and what would eventually be the final margin.

Zeinab Chan and Jessica Graves led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with 16 points each. Chan finished the day 6-of-11 from the field and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe, while Graves finished 4-of-4 from long-range. Dudley had 14 points and Kayla Hudson pitched in 11 points and four assists in the win.

Lindsay McCown led the Eagles with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Kailan DeCamp finished with 10 points.

Dudley’s 14 points leave her just 15 points away from reaching first place on Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's all-time scorer list.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improves to 34-2 on the season, while Oklahoma Christian ends its run at 21-12. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will face Oklahoma City in the first semifinal on Monday, March 22 at 6:00 p.m.
