TUCSON, Ariz. - 3/12/2010 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University golf team captured the Tucson Invitational Games title on Friday with a three-round score of 917. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, No. 25 in the latest NAIA rankings, won the event by 41 strokes over the second place team, Tiffin (Ohio) University.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ freshman and former Jackson Christian standout Brett Barry was the medalist with a 54-hole total of 226. Senior Milan native Clay Mallard finished second in the tournament with a 228.
Finishing third in the team standings was St. Lawrence (N.Y.) with a score of 974, Monmouth (N.J.) was fourth with 978, Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) was fifth with 1,015, Monmouth-B was sixth with 1,070 and Judson (Ill.) was seventh with 1,096.
The final round was played on the Tucson National Golf Course, the home of the PGA’s Tucson Open. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Mallard and Micah Gentle each posted rounds of 72 on the par 73 course.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ golf will be Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) Invitational on March 22-23.
