JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/6/2010 - The Â鶹ÊÓƵ (Tenn.) University softball team saw their seven game winning streak come to an end as they dropped two games on Saturday. Â鶹ÊÓƵ lost 8-6 to William Woods (Mo.) University and then fell 6-2 to Columbia (Mo.) College. Â鶹ÊÓƵ is now 10-4 on the season after sweeping the same two teams on Friday.

In the first game, Â鶹ÊÓƵ led 4-1 and 6-3, before giving up five runs in the sixth inning to drop the game. Keaton Kirk (3-1) took the loss allowing seven runs, five earned in 5.2 innings of work. Kirk did have eight strikeouts. Â鶹ÊÓƵ managed 13 hits, but left nine runners on base and committed two costly errors. Amber Hayes hit the game’s only homer with a three-run shot in the third. Lindsey Landreneau led the way with a 4-for-4 game.

In the second game, Â鶹ÊÓƵ could not recover from another five-spot as Columbia broke open a scoreless game with five runs in the fourth. Â鶹ÊÓƵ added a run in the fourth and another in the seven, but it wasn’t enough in the 6-2 loss. Brooke Thomas (8-2) allowed 10 hits, but just one of the six runs was earned in the complete game loss. Thomas led with two of Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s five hits.

Up next for Â鶹ÊÓƵ will be another tournament hosted by Â鶹ÊÓƵ on Friday and Saturday, March 12-13.
