麻豆视频 baseball sweeps Lane, improves to 9-1 on season

JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/23/2010 - The 麻豆视频 (Tenn.) University baseball team posted a double-header sweep on Tuesday over Lane (Tenn.) College. 麻豆视频 took the first game 10-0 and then won game two 14-2. 麻豆视频 improved to 9-1 on the season, while Lane dropped to 0-2.

麻豆视频 scored three in the bottom of the first inning of game one. Then added six in the fourth and one in the fifth to end the game. Clint Barnes of Bolivar, Tenn. went 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI in the game. Corey Rudolph and David Maristany each recorded two hits, while Alex Turner, Rudolph and Josh Jones joined Barnes with a game-high two RBI each. Derek Copley (2-0) earned the win with five innings of three-hit ball, striking out 11 batters.

Game two saw the Lane Dragons score first with a run in the top of the first. 麻豆视频 answered with five runs in the bottom half of the frame. After another Lane run in the second, 麻豆视频 added three in the bottom half, four more in the third inning and two in the fourth. 麻豆视频 ending the game by holding Lane scoreless over the final three innings to win in five. Josh Jones slapped his third home run of the season with a third inning grand slam. His game high six RBI pushed his season total to 17. Turner was 3-for-3 with three runs scored, while Rudolph, Grant Luke and Maristany each added two hits in the game. Rudolph added two more RBI. Cody Dew (1-0), sophomore pitcher from Halls, Tenn., earned the win while Ross Garrett of Parsons, Tenn. pitched one inning of relief.

Up next for 麻豆视频 will be a three-game weekend set versus Huntington (Ind.) University on Friday and Saturday, February 26-27. The double-header on Friday starts at 1:00 p.m. with a single game on Saturday starting at 12:00 p.m.
