JACKSON, Miss. - 2/22/2010 - The NAIA No. 22 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University men's golf team captured the Jackson State (Miss.) University Invitational title. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ posted the top scores on both days (312, 306) and finished with a team score of 618.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ finished six shots ahead of Tennessee Tech University (624) who was second. Rounding out the field of 13 was Jackson State, Florida A&M, McNeese State, Mississippi College, Lipscomb (Tenn.), Lambuth (Tenn.), Tennessee-Martin, Savannah State, Talladega (Ala.), Southern Univ. and Alcorn State (Miss.).
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ freshman and former Jackson Christian standout Bret Barry was the team's top finisher in fourth place with a 149. Mills Hamaguchi (153) of Milan finished seventh, Ryan Chandler (154) finished No. 10, David Hopper (162) was No. 28 and Milan native Clay Mallard (162) rounded out Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's top five in the No. 41 spot.
Shepard Archie III of Florida A&M captured the individual title with a score of 145.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be the Grover Page/UT Martin Classic on March 1 at the Jackson Country Club.
