Jackson, Tenn. - 1/20/2003 - Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University forward and former Jackson Central Merry star has been named the TranSouth Conference Player of the Week. Bryant, a 6-foot-2 junior, averaged a double-double in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s three wins this week.
In an 80-77 Lady Bulldog win over Lambuth University, Bryant had 14 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, one block, and one steal. In Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s 86-63 win against Berry College, she had 14 points, six rebounds, four blocks, and two steals. In the Lady Bulldogs’ 81-60 win over Lee University, Bryant had another strong game with 13 points, 16 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.
For the week, Bryant averaged 13.6 points, 12.0 rebounds and 2.3 blocks while shooting 18-of-32 (56%) from the floor and 4-of-7 (57%) from the free throw line. She also hit 1-of-2 from three-point range (50%.)
Bryant currently leads the Lady Bulldogs in both scoring and rebounding as she is averaging just shy of a double-double for the season with 15.0 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. She has helped lead Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ to a No. 2 ranking in the NAIA and a 17-1 overall record. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is also off to another hot start in conference play as they are 4-0 and has an average margin of victory in those four games of 28.7 points.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ plays tonight at Blue Mountain College in a TranSouth game. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ looks to go 5-0 in the conference. The next home game for the Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs will be on Thursday night as Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ plays host to conference foe Trevecca Nazarene University at 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.
