Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Bryant Named TranSouth Player of the Week

Jackson, Tenn. - 1/20/2003 - Â鶹ÊÓƵ University forward and former Jackson Central Merry star has been named the TranSouth Conference Player of the Week. Bryant, a 6-foot-2 junior, averaged a double-double in Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s three wins this week.

In an 80-77 Lady Bulldog win over Lambuth University, Bryant had 14 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, one block, and one steal. In Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s 86-63 win against Berry College, she had 14 points, six rebounds, four blocks, and two steals. In the Lady Bulldogs’ 81-60 win over Lee University, Bryant had another strong game with 13 points, 16 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.

For the week, Bryant averaged 13.6 points, 12.0 rebounds and 2.3 blocks while shooting 18-of-32 (56%) from the floor and 4-of-7 (57%) from the free throw line. She also hit 1-of-2 from three-point range (50%.)

Bryant currently leads the Lady Bulldogs in both scoring and rebounding as she is averaging just shy of a double-double for the season with 15.0 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. She has helped lead Â鶹ÊÓƵ to a No. 2 ranking in the NAIA and a 17-1 overall record. Â鶹ÊÓƵ is also off to another hot start in conference play as they are 4-0 and has an average margin of victory in those four games of 28.7 points.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ plays tonight at Blue Mountain College in a TranSouth game. Â鶹ÊÓƵ looks to go 5-0 in the conference. The next home game for the Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs will be on Thursday night as Â鶹ÊÓƵ plays host to conference foe Trevecca Nazarene University at 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.
