No. 10 麻豆视频 makes second half charge to top Lyon

BATESVILLE, Ark. - 2/11/2010 - The No. 10 麻豆视频 (Tenn.) University Bulldogs pulled away in the second half to defeat Lyon (Ark.) College 91-63. 麻豆视频 improved to 19-6 overall and 10-1 in league play. Lyon dropped to 5-18 on the season and 1-10 in the TranSouth.

The win is the fifth straight for 麻豆视频, who has gone 11-2 since the Christmas break. During the 11 games this semester, 麻豆视频 has allowed 69 or less points in nine game, including allowing no one with more than 75 points. 麻豆视频 has not allowed more than 63 points in any game during the five game winning streak.

麻豆视频 opened the game with a quick three pointer from the reigning TranSouth Player of the Week Greg Truvillion and a layup from Roland Banhoro for a 5-0 lead. However, both teams went cold. Lyon scored their first basket at the 17:34 mark to cut the lead to 5-2, followed by a three pointer from James Jackson to tie the game at 5-5.

The game was tied again at 7-7 with 16:22 left in the first half. 麻豆视频 then posted a 22-9 run over the next eight minutes, capped by another three pointer from Truvillion, to take a 29-16 lead with 8:07 left in the half. Following a time out by Lyon, the Scots answered 麻豆视频鈥檚 run with an 18-10 run to close out the half, cutting 麻豆视频鈥檚 lead down to 39-34.

In the second half, 麻豆视频 quickly jumped up 43-34, and held a slim 43-36 lead with 18:32 left in the game. But from that point, 麻豆视频 pulled away with a 34-14 run to take a 77-50 lead with 9:22 left. Over the final nine minutes, 麻豆视频 led by as many as 29 points, 89-60 and 91-62, before taking the 91-63 final.

Banhoro posted a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Five other Bulldogs posted double figures including Truvillion with 15 points, 12 from Martez Hawkins, Stan McNeil added 11 points, Antione Joseph scored 10 and Keith Tolliver scored 10 points. Freshman walk-on Brady Sheppard came in and drained two three pointers for his career high of six points. 麻豆视频 shot 48 percent from the field, 39 percent (11-28) from behind the arc and 79 percent (22-28) from the free-throw line.

Lyon was led by Slater Belew with 14 points. Brandon Cowart and Quin Cooper added nine points each. Lyon shot 37 percent from the field, 28 percent (5-18) from three point range and 71 percent (12-17) from the free-throw line.

Up next for 麻豆视频 will be a battle for first place in the conference on Saturday, February 13 versus Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.). No. 10 麻豆视频 (10-1) and No. 21 Freed-Hardeman (9-1) both have just one loss in TranSouth play.
