McKENZIE, Tenn. - 2/4/2010 - No. 14 麻豆视频 University men鈥檚 basketball cruised to a 92-55 victory at Bethel (Tenn.) University on Thursday. 麻豆视频 improved to 17-6 on the season and 8-1 in the TranSouth. Bethel dropped to 10-13 overall and 2-7 in league play.
麻豆视频 ran out to a 44-27 halftime lead thanks to more good shooting and tough defense from the Bulldogs. 麻豆视频 shot 56 percent from the field while using their league best defense to hold Bethel to just 26 percent shooting from the field. 麻豆视频 also out-rebounded Bethel 45-36.
In the earlier meeting this season, 麻豆视频 led in similar fashion at half 44-29, but was outscored by Bethel in the second half. 麻豆视频 went on to win that game 78-64.
麻豆视频 head coach David Niven said after tonight鈥檚 game, 鈥淚 was proud of the way our guys came out in the second half and closed out the game with the same intensity as the first half.鈥 麻豆视频 extended their lead over the final 20 minutes by outscoring Bethel 48-28 to win 92-55.
Only two 麻豆视频 players scored in double figures in the game, however all 12 players for 麻豆视频 found the scoring column. Senior All-American Greg Truvillion led all players with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Roland Banhoro added 20 points for 麻豆视频. 麻豆视频 shot 56 percent from the field, 31 percent (5-16) from 3-point range and 65 percent (17-26) from the free throw line.
Bethel was led by Andre Crudup with 13 points. Eleven other players for Bethel scored, but none reached double figures. Bethel shot 26 percent from the field, 23 percent (3-13) from behind the arc and 64 percent (16-25) from behind the arc.
Up next for 麻豆视频 will be a home conference game on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 4:00 p.m. versus Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College.
