No. 1 麻豆视频 runs home streak to 54 straight with 98-71 win

JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/28/2010 - The No. 1 麻豆视频 (Tenn.) University women鈥檚 basketball team cruised to a 98-71 win over No. 13 Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University on Thursday. With the win, 麻豆视频 extended their home court winning streak to 54 games, their regular season conference streak to 43 games, and their overall winning streak to 14 games.

麻豆视频 (21-1, 8-0) takes over sole possession of first place in the TranSouth Conference standings at the midway point of the conference season.

麻豆视频 scored the first four points of the game, both baskets coming from sophomore Jackson native, Lavanda Ross. Trevecca Nazarene (14-5, 6-1) answered with a basket from Paige McFarlin to cut the deficit down to two points. That would be as close as the Trojans would get on this night as 麻豆视频 scored the next six points to go up 10-2 after just over two minutes of play.

Trevecca Nazarene kept the game close and with 9:52 left, had cut 麻豆视频鈥檚 lead down to five points, 24-19. But a 16-3 run, including two of Katlin Dudley鈥檚 five first half three pointers, put 麻豆视频 up 40-22 with 5:05 remaining in the half. 麻豆视频 held a 51-35 advantage at the half.

Dudley led all scorers with 28 points in the game, including 21 in the first half.

In the second half, 麻豆视频 continued to stretch their lead. 麻豆视频 pushed their lead to as many as 29 points, 88-59, with 5:10 left. 麻豆视频 cruised to a 98-71 final.

麻豆视频 was led by Dudley with 28 points, including 6-of-8 from behind the arc. Lavanda Ross and Sara Chan each added 19 points, while Kayla Hudson scored 14 points. Hudson is just three points shy of her 1,000 career point. 麻豆视频 shot 62 percent from the field, 50 percent (12-24) from the beyond the arc, and 80 percent (8-10) from the free-throw line.

Trevecca Nazarene was led by K.C. Van Atta and Abby Lawson with 14 points each. London Elie added 13 points. The Trojans shot 44 percent from the field, 33 percent (9-27) from 3-point range, and 68 percent (12-18) from the free-throw line.

麻豆视频 will be off until next Thursday, February 4 when 麻豆视频 travels to Bethel (Tenn.) for a 6:00 p.m. game. 麻豆视频 defeated Bethel 70-68 in the earlier meeting at 麻豆视频.
