No. 1 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ earns fifth straight conference win, home streak at 53 straight wins

JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/18/2010 - The No. 1 ranked Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University Lady Bulldogs posted their 52nd straight home win with a 101-44 victory over Mid-Continent (Ky.) University. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved to 18-1 on the season and 5-0 in the TranSouth. Mid-Continent dropped to 1-14 overall and 0-4 in league play.

The win for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ also marked their 40th straight TranSouth regular season victory.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, winners of 11 straight, began the game with a 19-0 run. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ pushed their largest lead of the first half to 41 points with the halftime score of 60-19.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ opened the second half with a 9-0 run, holding Mid-Continent scoreless for almost four minutes. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led by as many as 58 points twice in the game, before ending the game with a 57-point win, 101-44.

The Lady Bulldogs had five players scoring in double figures with Jessica Graves leading the team with 19 points. Sara Chan scored 15 points, Kaitlin Dudley added 14 points, Lavanda Ross scored 14 points and Kayla Hudson scored 12 points. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 53 percent from the field, 34 percent (11-32) from behind the arc, and 56 percent (10-18) from the free throw line.

The Cougars of Mid-Continent were led by Nicki Dewitt with 14 points. Kandi Knupp and Tiffany Payton added 12 and 10 points respectively. Mid-Continent was held to 34 percent shooting from the field, 26 percent from behind the arc, and 50 percent from the free throw line.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a road conference game at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 21 at Cumberland (Tenn.) University.
