NASHVILLE, Tenn. - 1/18/2010 - of the No. 1 ranked Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University Bulldogs has been named the TranSouth Athletic Conference women's basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 17, 2010. It is the second week in a row for Chan to earn the award.
Chan, a 6-foot-4 junior center from Arange City, Sudan, helped Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ to a 2-0 week. In the two wins during TranSouth play, Chan averaged 19 points, 8.5 rebounds, and one steal per game. She posted 61 percent (16-25) shooting from the field and 67 percent (6-9) from the free throw line in the two games. Chan scored 15 points while posting five rebounds in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's 92-63 win over Lyon (Ark.) College. Her best game was in the 87-63 win at No. 6 Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University with 23 points and 12 rebounds.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is 17-1 (4-0 TSAC) on the season and has been ranked No. 1 in the NAIA for 30 straight rankings. The win over Lyon pushed Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s home winning streak to 52 straight games. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has also won 39 straight TranSouth regular season games.
