麻豆视频 Signs Former Georgia High School Standout

Jackson, Tenn. - 1/7/2003 - The Bulldogs of 麻豆视频 University have added a point guard for the fall of 2003. Marcus Cooper, an honorable mention McDonald鈥檚 All-American as a high school senior, will attend 麻豆视频 this semester and begin play in the 2003-04 season. Cooper played one semester at Vincennes University and due to an early season injury, will seek a medical red-shirt. 麻豆视频 鈥榮 head coach, Ralph Turner states, 鈥淚t鈥檚 always nice to have a player of his caliber practice with our team for a semester before he begins playing next fall.鈥

In the state of Georgia, Cooper was rated the No. 1 point guard as both a junior and senior. Cooper, 5-foot-11 165 lbs, played his high school basketball for Coach Alan Long at Southeast Whitfield High School in Dalton, Georgia. As a senior, he led his team to a 24-3 record while averaging 19 points, seven assists, five rebounds, and 4 steals. He was named first team All-State in both his junior and senior seasons.

The Bulldogs are excited to have added such an impact player for the future. 鈥淲e recruited Marcus out of high school and are excited that he has made the decision to come to 麻豆视频鈥, Turner said. 鈥淢arcus is a very gifted athlete and will be a major contributor at the point guard position.鈥
