JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/14/2010 - The No. 18 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Bulldogs defeated Lyon (Ark.) College 82-53 on Thursday. The Bulldogs used balanced scoring with four players score in double figures, improving to 12-5 overall and 3-0 in the TranSouth.
Lyon (3-11, 0-3) jumped out to a four point lead with 15:44 left in the first half. This lead would not last long with Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ taking the lead of 18-16 at the 8:42 mark and never looked back. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ went on to a 35-21 half time lead with the Bulldogs shooting 46 percent from the field compared to Lyon’s 26 percent shooting in the first 20 minutes.
The second half began just as the first half ended, with Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ continuing to build their lead. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ stretched their lead to a game-high 33 points, 63-30 with 10:02 left to play. Lyon cut the lead down to 24 points, 70-46, but Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ answered and pushed the lead to 29 points for the final score of 82-53.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was lead by Stan McNeil with 11 points, including 3-of-7 from behind the arc. He was followed by Greg Truvillion, Keith Tolliver and Samuel Danashe with 10 points each.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 48 percent from the field, 35 percent (8-23) from behind the arc, and made 14-of-14 from the free-throw line. The Bulldogs out rebounded Lyon 43-36 in the game.
Lyon was led by Andy Lee with 13 points and Slater Below with 11 points. The Scots shot 32 percent from the field, 24 percent (5-21) from behind the arc, and 50 percent (4-8) from the free-throw line.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a road game against conference rival Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
