KANSAS CITY, Mo. - 1/11/2010 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldogs remained No. 1 in the NAIA Women’s Basketball Rankings released on Monday. This poll runs Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s streak of No. 1 rankings to 29 straight. The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ men jumped one spot to No. 18 in the latest rankings.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s women went 4-0 since the last ranking was released including wins over ranked teams Wayland Baptist (Texas) and Bethel (Tenn.). Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is 3-1 versus teams in the top 10, 7-1 versus teams in the top 25, and 11-1 versus teams either ranked or receiving votes. On the year, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is 15-1 overall and 2-0 in the TranSouth
The Lady Bulldogs also ran their home court winning streak to 51 straight games. In last week’s win over Bethel, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ senior Kaitlin Dudley passed the 2,000 point mark for her career. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has also boasted the conference women’s basketball players of the week for the past two weeks (Dudley and Sara Chan).
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s women will be a home game on Thursday, January 14 versus Lyon (Ark.) and then a top-10 battle at No. 6 Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) on Saturday, January 16.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s men posted a 3-1 record since the last ranking was released. The Bulldogs are coming off wins at No. 21 Campbellsville (Ky.) and at Martin Methodist (Tenn.), who was receiving votes in the last poll. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s only blemish since returning from the Christmas break was a seven point loss to receiving votes William Carey (Miss.).
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is 4-3 versus teams ranked in the top 25 and 6-5 versus teams either ranked or receiving votes. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is currently 11-5 on the season and 2-0 in the TranSouth.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s men will be a home game on Thursday, January 14 versus Lyon (Ark.). Then a rematch of last season’s TranSouth title game at Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) on Saturday, January 16. The Lions of FHU are receiving votes in this week’s poll.
