Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Chan named TranSouth player of the week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - 1/11/2010 - of the No. 1 ranked Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University Bulldogs has been named the TranSouth Athletic Conference women's basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 10, 2010.

Chan, a 6-foot-4 junior center from Arange City, Sudan, helped Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ to a 2-0 week. In the two wins during TranSouth play, Chan averaged 18 points, 11.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. She posted 54 percent (13-24) shooting from the field and 71 percent (10-14) from the free throw line in the two games. Chan scored 10 points while posting 15 rebounds in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's 80-78 win over No. 22 Bethel (Tenn.) University. Her best game was a 26-point and eight rebound performance in the 86-66 win at Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is 15-1 overall and 2-0 in league play.

Chan is the second straight Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ player and second player this season to earn this honor. Kaitlin Dudley received the award last week.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a home conference game on Thursday, January 14 at 6:00 p.m. versus Lyon (Ark.) College.
