麻豆视频 women win eighth straight with 86-66 victory at Martin Methodist

PULASKI, Tenn. - 1/9/2010 - It was not easy, but the No. 1 麻豆视频 University Lady Bulldogs earned a TranSouth Conference road win at Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College on Saturday 86-66. 麻豆视频 improved to 15-1 overall and 2-0 in league play. Martin Methodist dropped to 8-6 on the season and 0-1 in the TranSouth.

Martin Methodist got off to a hot start at home by jumping out to a 10-4 lead over the first three minutes. 麻豆视频 answered with a 7-0 run to take an 11-10 lead with 14:55 left in the half. Martin rallied back to lead 14-11 and then 16-14, before 麻豆视频 regained the lead for good, 17-16 on a three pointer from Kayla Bryant.

麻豆视频 pushed out to a 23-16 thanks to a 9-0 run. However, Martin Methodist stayed close to the defending conference and national champions. With six minutes to play in the half, a three pointer from Jessy Christopher pulled the RedHawks back to within one point, 23-22. 麻豆视频 slowly began to put some space between themselves and Martin Methodist with a 14-7 run to close out the first half with a 37-29 lead.

The second half started with a basket from 麻豆视频鈥檚 Sara Chan to put the Lady Bulldog lead into double figures for the first time in the game. Martin Methodist tried one final rally as they cut the 麻豆视频 lead back down to six points, 39-33 with 18 minutes to play. But 麻豆视频 was finally able to produce that big run to put the game away. Over the next eight minutes 麻豆视频 posted a 15-5 run to stretch their lead to 16 points, 54-38.

麻豆视频 maintained the double digit lead and led by as many as 25 points with 2:40 left in the game before taking the tough road victory 86-66.

麻豆视频 was led by Chan with a game high 26 points and eight rebounds. Kaitlin Dudley, who just passed 2,000 career points in 麻豆视频鈥檚 last game, poured in 15 points. Kayla Hudson added 12 points and Bryant led 麻豆视频 with her two three points for her six points. 麻豆视频 made just three-of-ten three pointers (30%) in the game. However 麻豆视频 dominated inside by shooting 58 percent from the field. 麻豆视频 also shot 82 percent (31-38) from the free throw line.

Martin Methodist was led by Christopher with 18 points including four three pointers. Whitney Robison added 10 points. The RedHawks shot 43 percent from the field, 54 percent (7-13) from behind the arc and 73 percent (19-26) from the free throw line.

The game featured 48 fouls and 64 three throw attempts. Martin Methodist edged 麻豆视频 27-26 in the rebound battle including 11-6 offensively.

Up next for 麻豆视频 will be a home game on Thursday, January 14 at 6:00 p.m. versus Lyon (Ark.) College.
