NASHVILLE, Tenn. - 1/4/2010 - of the No. 19 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University Bulldogs has been named the TranSouth men’s basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 3, 2010.
Alexander, a 6-foot-3 senior guard from Memphis, Tenn., helped Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ to a win in their only game of the week. Alexander posted a game-high 24 points in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s 76-68 at (RV) Campbellsville (Ky.) on Saturday. His 24 points was just one point shy of his career high. Alexander scored nine points in the final six minutes of play, including four-of-four from the free throw line, to help seal Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s win. He also posted one rebound, two assists and two steals in the contest. Alexander shot 67 percent from the field, 50 percent (2-4) from behind the arc and 100 percent (6-6) from the free throw line in the game.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is 9-4 on the season and has won seven of their last nine games. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ plays Monday night versus William Carey (Miss.) in their final non-conference game of the regular season. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will begin defending their 2009 TranSouth title in Thursday night when they host Bethel (Tenn.).
