No. 11 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ matches season high in points with 108-83 win over Belhaven

JACKSON, Tenn. - 12/5/2009 - The No. 11 ranked Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University men’s basketball team posted a 108-83 win over Belhaven (Miss.) University on Saturday. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ avenged an earlier 75-72 loss at Belhaven, while improving to 8-3 on the season. Belhaven dropped to 8-1 on the season.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 67 percent from the field in the first half, including 56 percent (9-16) from behind the arc in the first 20 minutes of play. The Bulldogs posted 56 first half points on their way to a 56-34 halftime lead. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led by just two points, 21-19 with 12:11 left in the first half. Then a 33-12 run by Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ extended their lead to the biggest of the half at 54-31.

In the second half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ continued their hot shooting, pushing their lead to as many as 34 points, 106-72 in the final few minutes. The Bulldogs shot another 65 percent in the second half, making 44 percent (4-9) in from behind the arc in the final 20 minutes.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led with six players in double-figures. Stan McNeil led all scorers with 21 points on five-of-nine shooting from behind the arc. Greg Truvillion added a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Samuel Danache and Roland Banhoro each added 14 points, while Keith Tolliver scored 12 and Alan North added 10 points. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ finished the game shooting 66 percent from the field, 52 percent (13-25) from behind the arc and 63 percent (17-27) from the free throw line.

Belhaven was led by Rob Wallace with 15 points, Larell Bailey with 13 points and Josh Luckett with 10 points. Belhaven shot 37 percent from the field, 29 percent (8-28) from behind the arc and 72 percent (13-28) from the free throw line.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be the final game for the Bulldog until January. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ travels to No. 25 Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) on Saturday, Dec. 12 for a 2:00 p.m. game. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will attempt to avenge a 69-66 loss to Olivet Nazarene in the second game of the season.
