No. 1 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ pulls away from No. 21 Loyola 82-54

JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/28/2009 - A day after the No. 1 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University women’s basketball team had their 31-game winning streak snapped, the Lady Bulldogs flexed their muscle again with an 82-54 win over No. 21 Loyola (La.) University. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved to 8-1 on the season, while Loyola dropped to 3-1.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ jumped out to a 37-24 halftime lead with 62 percent shooting in the first half. Loyola managed just 26 percent shooting during the first 20 minutes.

In the second half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ posted 45 more points to push the final score to 82-54.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by Sara Chan with 20 points and 10 rebounds in the game. Jessica Graves scored 12 points and Kayla Bryant added 11 points, including three 3-pointers. Christina Ray scored 10 points. The Lady Bulldogs shot 54 percent from the field, 29 percent (5-17) from behind the arc and 79 percent (15-19) from the free throw line.

Loyola was led by Madeline Gagneauz with 12 points. Trenese Smith and Keiva Council each added 11 points, while Molly Emig scored 10 points. Loyola shot 30 percent from the field, 18 percent (4-22) from behind the arc and 76 percent (16-21) from the three throw line.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a road game on Monday when the Lady Bulldogs travel to Shorter (Ga.) College for a 5:00 p.m. contest.
