Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ men’s basketball wins 76-72 at William Carey

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - 11/21/2009 - The No. 11 ranked Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Bulldogs posted a 76-72 win at William Carey (Miss.) University on Saturday. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved to 4-2 on the season, while the Crusaders of William Carey dropped to 2-1 overall.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ overcame 17 turnovers and rallied from being down four points at halftime with a 41-point second half to earn the win.

Despite outshooting William Carey from the field and three point line in the first half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ found themselves trailing 39-35 at the break. In the second half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ found their points in the paint and at the free throw line. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ sank 14 free throws in the final 20 minutes and shot 50 percent from the field, with only one basket coming from behind the arc.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ boasted five players in double figures led by Greg Truvillion with 15 points. Antoine Joseph added 14 points, Stan McNeil scored 13 points, Keith Tolliver added 12 points and Samuel Danache scored 11 points. Truvillion and Joseph each grabbed nine rebounds. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 48 percent from the field, 29 percent (4-14) from behind the arc and 72 percent (18-25) from the free throw line.

William Carey was led by Cory Smith with a game-high 24 points. Drew Meyerchick added 17 points for the Crusaders. William Carey shot 40 percent from the field, 21 percent (3-14) from behind the arc and 61 percent (11-18) from the free throw line.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be another road game in Mississippi on Tuesday, November 24 at 7:00 p.m. at Belhaven (Miss.) College.
