Hudson, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ use long range shot to top The Master’s 95-78

JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/20/2009 - The No. 1 ranked Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldogs made 14 first half three pointers as they cruised to a 95-78 win over The Master’s (Calif.) College on Friday night of the Rotary Classic. Junior guard Kayla Hudson sank six-of-ten three pointers, finishing with a game-high 18 points.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ moved to 6-0 on the season, while The Master’s dropped to 2-2.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ started the game by making their first seven three pointers, jumping out to the 19-point halftime lead, 59-40. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was 14-of-20 from long range in the first half for 70 percent.

In the second half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ pushed their lead to as many as 25 points with the latest coming 77-52 at the 10:54 mark. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ cruised down the stretch to the 95-78 final. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ added just 1-of-6 three pointers in the second half.

Hudson’s 18 points led the way for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. Kaitlin Dudley added 17 points, including three-of-seven shooting from behind the arc. Lavanda Ross poured in 16 points, while Jessica Graves used three 3-pointers to help her reach 11 points in the game. Sara Chan added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 49 percent from the field, 58 percent (15-26) from behind the arc and just 58 percent (14-24) from the free throw line.

The Master’s was led by Jenna Reed with 18 points, while Lena Rivera and Morgan Schwegler each added 13 points. Annie Gillespie scored 11 points. The Master’s shot 46 percent from the field, 40 percent (8-20) from behind the arc and 69 percent (20-29) from the free throw line.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be the final game of the Rotary Classic on Saturday at 9:00 p.m. when Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ hosts No. 25 Biola (Calif.).
