LEBANON, Ill. - 11/13/2009 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University men’s basketball team led by as many as 15 points in route to a 75-62 win over Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) University in the McKendree (Ill.) Classic. No. 11 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved to 2-1 on the season, while Harris-Stowe State dropped to 1-2 overall.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s senior All-American Greg Truvillion led with 28 points and 14 rebounds in the contest, both game highs.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the game, but saw their lead vanish quickly. Harris-Stowe rallied back and to lead by as many as eight points with 7:30 left in the first half. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ outscored Harris-Stowe by 10 points over the final 7:30 to take a 33-31 halftime lead.
In the second half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ pushed their lead up as many as 15 points before settling for the 12-point win.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 49 percent from the field, including 35 percent (6-17) from three point range. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ made three-of-six three pointers in the second half. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ also made 11-of-17 free throws for 65 percent. The Bulldogs were led by Truvillion’s first double-double of the season. Keith Tolliver and Tacuma Alexander added 14 and 10 points respectively.
Harris-Stowe was led by Robert Mumphard with 12 points. Kevin Kramer scored 11 points, while Kyle Turner added 10 points. The Hornets shot 45 percent from the field, 23 percent (3-13) from behind the arc and 43 percent (3-7) from the free throw line.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a game with No. 5 McKendree on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
